A Place to Absolutely Visit During Fashion Week
The Fashion Hub will open its gates again during the Budapest Central European Fashion Week (BCEFW). The Hungarian Art and Business (HAB) building on Andrássy Avenue will become a venue for workshops and interesting roundtable discussions on the 27th and the 28th of January. The programs are free to attend, but the number of places is limited. Pre-registration is required for some programs.
The Hungarian Fashion and Design Agency opened the BCEFW Fashion Hub for the first time in the SS24 season with the intent to create tradition. In September 2023, those interested could view the brands’ shows and exciting roundtable discussions and presentations. From TikTok communication to street-style photography and the behind-the-scenes of BCEFW, many curiosities of the fashion world were exhibited, further enriching the fashion week’s diverse program.
At the end of January, the Fashion Hub will aim to attract the audience’s attention and target young people again. How is digital design done? What is the way to fashion, how can you get started? How do costumes get on the big screen? How are beauty and wellness connected? Those visiting the Fashion Hub programs will find the answers to these questions, among others, with the help of invited experts.
On the 27th of January, at the Carreer Paths in the Contemporary Fashion World roundtable discussion, Emma Istvánffy, fashion designer (Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY), and Tamás Trunk, new-generation brand expert and chief organiser of Sneakerness Budapest, will talk about their work, milestones, and further plans. Eszter Magyar, founder of Makeupbrutalism will share her views on her solo project, provocation, trendy anti-trends and revisiting beauty norms. In the afternoon, The Future Belongs to Hybrid and Interactive Fashion roundtable discussion will focus on collaboration and responsibility. Fashion designers Virág Kerényi (Batz X Kerényi Virág collection), Réka Vágó (Batz X REKAVAGO collection), and Viktóra Harányi, designer (Batz Hungary Kft.) will analyse wellness-focused fashion trends. On Saturday, there will be several opportunities for creation. Borbála Ferencz, fashion and jewellery designer (BORBALA), will give old clothes a new life in the Recycle Me – BORBALA Patchwork Top Making Workshop. In the afternoon, Lúcia Mészáros, fashion illustrator, will give participants an insight into the basics of fashion illustration, and they can try collage techniques, among others during the Illuxtratgirl – Fashion Illustration workshop. The day will culminate with the Lago di Nemi - Kamay Ko Launch Party; the domestic fashion brand will display its collection in an engaging presentation with OIEE’s DJ set.
On Sunday, the 28th of January, in the Dress-Coding workshop and the AI and AR: Creative T-Shirt Making With Future Technologies programs, you can try out the newest digital design technologies in the Fashion Hub. In the morning, Unisus Club will unveil its collection in a private event. How do fashion designers prevail in films; what goes on behind the scenes? At the Behind the Scenes of Film Costume Design roundtable discussion, Dóra Mojzes, costume designer and stylist, and András Tóth and Attila Godena-Juhász, costume designers, will share their experiences in the world of filming. Those interested in handicrafts can make a cardholder from deadstock leather at the MrCarter&Co Cardholder Making Workshop, which they can take home. The moderator of the discussions on Saturday and Sunday will be Bence Csalár, fashion journalist and expert and author of popular fashion-themed books.
It will be worth visiting the Fashion Hub, where, in addition to participating in the programs, you can meet many other people interested in fashion, speakers, and some of the BCEFW designers. It will be a vibrant BCEFW venue, conveniently close to the Museum of Fine Arts, housing the fashion shows.
Visiting the Fashion Hub will be free of charge during the event, but some programs require prior registration due to the limited number of places. You can find the registration form here. The organisers reserve the right to change the program.
