Be(a)ds of Roses - Folk Jewellery in the 21st Century

Date: 12 October, 2024. (10:30)

Location: House of Traditions - Nagy Lajos Hall, 1011 Budapest, Corvin Square 8.

The Museum of Hungarian Applied Folk Art's jewellery collection consists of pieces inspired by folk motifs and produced by 20th—and 21st-century folk artisans and designers. Their works combine the interactivity of contemporary material use with modern reflections on folk motifs. They have never been on display together, visible to the general public, so this exhibit is a real treat at a very special venue. Folk jewellery can be earrings, rings, bracelets, and necklaces, depending on which body part it embellishes. The ornaments represent the financial status and social rank of their wearers, but sometimes healing properties were also attributed to them (e.g., amulets).

The event requires registration.
