Get in the Picture! – New Talent of the Year 2025 – Art Deco With a New Momentum!

The Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency is announcing the ‘Get in the Picture – New Talent of the Year’ tender again in 2025, marking the 100th anniversary of the Art Deco style. The programme aims to foster students' creativity and professional skills in creative industry vocational training while allowing them to showcase their talent to a broad audience. Participants, working in teams of 3-5 members, will present ways to evoke the elegance of the past through the aesthetic of the present day in reimagined fine and applied arts and fashion, design, and beauty industry projects, all approached from a contemporary perspective.

The Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency considers it one of its core tasks to support and develop creative industry vocational training. Accordingly, it is again launching the ‘Get in the Picture – New Talent of the Year 2025’ tender in collaboration with the Budapest Complex Vocational Training Centre. The programme aims to elevate the sector’s prestige and attract young people’s attention to the opportunities within the industry, thereby securing its future talent pool. The HFDA’s long-term goal is to motivate students in vocational training, providing them with a platform to enhance their skills and debut professionally. The programme enhances community building and a teamwork mindset while participants can showcase their creativity and professional competence to a broad audience.

The 2025 tender’s theme is ‘100 Years of Art Deco!’ which offers participating students a chance to present their skills through reimagining a rich artistic style. Art Deco was a flourishing decorative art and design movement of the 1920s and 1930s, representing modernity, elegance, and luxury. As one of the most prominent symbols of industrial progress, Art Deco's influence permeated fashion, architecture, painting, and furniture design alike. Entrants are required to create new projects that combine Art Deco’s characteristic geometric shapes and rich use of materials and colours with a contemporary approach. The students can freely choose the methodologies, materials, and techniques that align with their ideas while interpreting the topic. The programme is open to students aged 14-21, enrolled in full-time education and participating in art, fashion, design, or beauty industry vocational training. Applicants may submit their entries in teams of 3-5 members within the same profession or representing multiple disciplines.

The application phase begins on the 16th of January 2025 and runs until the 16th of February. During this period, applicants can enter their product or project ideas by submitting the documentation required in the call. Following the submission of concepts, in the pre-screening phase, the professional jury appointed by the HFDA will evaluate the entries and select the three best teams in each category (fashion, design, visual and applied arts, beauty and personal care). The selected 12 teams will participate in the implementation phase, where they can consult with their mentors and trainers regarding the execution of their projects.

The implementation period will take place between March and June 2025. Throughout this period, highly skilled and renowned mentors will support the participating teams through online and in-person consultations. As the programme concludes, an awards ceremony will take place in June 2025, where the teams can creatively present their completed projects to the jury and the audience. Upon completion of the programme, until December 2025, the participating teams will receive follow-up support, which includes exploring career options in the creative industries, building a professional network, and participating in thematic workshops and lectures.
