A new generation of Hungarian designers will debut at the Milan Fashion Week
As part of the strategic agreement made in 2018 between the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI) and the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency (HFDA), Hungarian brands will present their latest collections at Milano Fashion Week for the 10th time. Once again, the public can see the works of Hungarian designers appearing under the Budapest Select umbrella brand at two locations. At the opening of the CNMI Fashion Hub, three brands - BORBALA, PINETIME CLOTHING, and UNREALINDUSTRY - will be presented in the form of a presentation. Within the framework of a collective catwalk show, the spring-summer 2024 collection of KATA SZEGEDI, THEFOUR, and ZSIGMOND will be showcased on the catwalk in the hall of the historic Palazzo Reale.
The purpose of the strategic partnership concluded with the CNMI in 2018 and extended for another 3 years in 2021 is to facilitate the entry of Hungarian fashion designers onto the international scene. During the international mentoring program operated within the framework of the cooperation, the designers can gain professional knowledge that fills gaps in the fields of product development, brand building, communication, and management, which contributes to the fact that by the end of the program, they can also present their work in foreign showrooms. One of the most prominent elements of the program is the appearance at Milano Fashion Week, where the selected brands can present themselves to a wide international audience, this time for the 10th time in the SS24 season.
After the successful participation of the previous season, Hungarian brands are appearing twice in the fashion week program this time. KATA SZEGEDI, THEFOUR and ZSIGMOND will present their spring- summer 2024 collection in the Budapest Select collective catwalk show on Wednesday, the 20th of September, 2023 from 12 pm. The fashion show will take place at a prestigious historical location, in the Palazzo Reale building, in the monumental hall of the Sala delle Cariatidi, where many accomplished brands have previously presented.
Three more Hungarian brands - BORBALA, PINETIME CLOTHING, and UNREALINDUSTRY - will present their collection in the form of a presentation at the opening ceremony of the CNMI Fashion HUB on the 19th of September, 2023 between 5 and 7 pm at a central location, just a few steps from the Duomo in Milan, within the walls of the Palazzo dei Giureconsulti.
For the 2024 spring-summer season, Hungarian designers are preparing colorful and exciting collections, which have novelty and high quality in common. This year's Budapest Select is different from the previous years, as HFDA's important objective is to give the new generations of fashion designers the opportunity to appear on an international level. The designers presenting in Milan are constantly developing and updating their brands, boldly moving towards creative and innovative directions. Among the works of the brands presenting as part of the international mentoring program, the audience can see a genderfluid collection, as well as pieces that were made using the value-creating recycling technique.
The brands will appear under the Budapest Select umbrella brand created by HFDA, which aims to provide greater visibility for domestic brands during international appearances through strong and unified communication while retaining individual characteristics as well. The interest in Budapest Select at high-prestige events has been increasing every year since the beginning, to which strategic collaborations also contribute. International appearances like Milano Fashion Week increase the shaping power of the fashion and creative industry in the country's image, and also provide a significant competitive advantage for brands while promoting sales promotion.
