BRAND DESCRIPTION: Anna Katalin Lovrity is the designer behind the brand rugs by annakatalin. Her paper collage-like visual world appears not only on her rugs, but also in her animated films and illustrations. Her highly stylized, angular shapes can easily be applied for flat weaving - inspiring the idea of designing playful patterns. She considers each of her creations as a window to another world, where everything is magical, more exciting, or meditative. Whereas one is immersed in the universe of movies only while watching them, rugs appear in our everyday spaces and bring this magical world closer to us. This is the essence of the collection. Balancing between figurality and abstraction, these flat-woven durable carpets are made of New Zealand wool, with brilliant colours given by plant-based dyes. Each piece is made by hand, so each rug has a unique character, and can be used as a wall tapestry or spread on the floor to make any interior exciting.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: Storytelling, figurative carpets have a long tradition in the rugs by annakatalin collection and express the designer's distinctive style. The exhibited rug – Lake – is closely related to the animated film Volcano Island, which takes place on a magical island where a young tigress is deeply connected with her environment. The pattern, which plays with abstraction and figuration, also works as an independent landscape.
