BOOKBINDING WORKSHOP WITH MARK SOMOGYI
Date: 11 October, 2024. (17:30-20:00)
Location: 1086, Budapest, Lujza street 14.
"Interested in the physicality and structure of the book? Have you always been attracted by the material and surface of paper? Have you also been caught up by the analogue revolution? During the workshop you will learn about the structure of the book, its materials, the technical words and basic concepts of bookbinding. You will be able to make your own book using genuine craft tools and recalling a historical binding technique." No previous training is required to attend the workshop, we provide the tools and materials. The session will be conducted by bookbinder and book conservator Márk Somogyi.
„I have been restoring and binding books for almost 25 years. I have gained experience in Hungary and abroad, living and working in the UK and Spain. Currently I work as a conservator at the Hungarian National Archives and as a lecturer at MOME. I try to keep my knowledge up to date and keep learning about relevant materials and techniques.”
Participation in the event is subject to a fee: 12.500 HUF
