DESIGNER DESCRIPTION: Márton Budai, the designer of Co&Co Designcommunication, graduated from the Moholy-Nagy University of Arts as a design artist. At the university, he and his colleagues founded their own design studio, which later entered into full collaboration with the Co&Co Designcommunication team. He worked as Art Director from 2017 to 2021, and since January 2022 has been the creative director of the design department. In addition, he was an instructor for the MOME designer preparation course for 5 years. As a designer, human-centered thinking is important to him. His main area of interest is the reinterpretation of social responsibility, social value judgment and its context through the tools of design.
MANUFACTURER DESCRIPTION: For more than 120 years, a wide variety of wool felts have been made in the only felt factory in Hungary. Felt and its production are a real Hungarian product, an integral part of Hungarian culture. The factory in Kőszeg is the only Hungarian felt factory, and unique in the region. Wool felt is experiencing a renaissance in contemporary architecture and interior design due to its unique properties: natural, renewable, and with an environmentally-friendly production technology.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: Kilim is a slow design niche lighting brand. Its core element is its unique felt, pressed from 100% natural wool and made by traditional & sustainable technology. Felt’s softness and naturalness evoke a nomadic, back-to-nature perception. Kilim fosters a personal touch with a simple gesture that invites interaction: there’s an opening zip-lock on the material that can be used to close the body around the light source, touching the cozy felt. This feature invites interaction and fosters human-material connection with a simple gesture. The product was created as part of the design LAB 2022 program of Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency. The primary goal of the design LAB incubation program is to promote the creation of collaborations between players in the Hungarian design sector, manufacturers and designers, and to strengthen and modernize the domestic manufacturing sector.
