Forms Design
ABOUT THE BRAND
The products designed by Forms Design are not only aesthetically pleasing but also tell stories, providing a lasting experience. Through them, we feel a deeper connection to both the product and the designer. The studio draws inspiration from nature and traditional techniques, combining them with simplicity, craftsmanship, and high-quality materials. The connection between the person and the object is important to us – that subtle resonance we feel through use. This is what truly matters.
ABOUT THE DESIGNER
The founder and lead designer of the studio, Máté Horváth, carries out his work with true dedication. His connection to wood dates back to his childhood—his grandfather was a forester, from whom he learned to respect the material and master its craftsmanship. They created numerous wooden toys and boats together, which is why playfulness remains a defining element in his creations to this day. Functionality is equally important, a principle reinforced by his degree in industrial product design engineering and his experience in carpentry workshops and furniture manufacturing companies. He also drew inspiration from the work of János Vásárhelyi, a Hungarian furniture designer known for creating mass-produced pieces that were both distinctive and internationally successful. This is where Forms Design's affinity for aesthetic yet cost-efficiently manufacturable series products originates. His precise engineering solutions, complex designs, and playful seating furniture have received numerous national and international accolades, including multiple Big SEE Design Awards and Red Dot Awards.
ABOUT THE EXHIBITED OBJECTS
Stretch chair
The Stretch Chair is inspired by the delicate balance modern society strives for—a dynamic interplay of opposing forces that shape our daily lives. Challenging conventional chair design, the creator takes a bold, pioneering approach, reshaping the familiar while preserving its essence. Traditional woodworking meets cutting-edge, recycled materials, resulting in a piece that is as thought-provoking as it is functional. Its sturdy legs exude confidence, while the suspended seat introduces a contrasting element of lightness and playful movement. This duality—strength paired with adaptability—defines both the aesthetics and industrial longevity of the chair. Thoughtfully designed structural elements ensure stability and efficient production, making it a truly sustainable and timeless creation. Environmental consciousness is at the core of its design. The seat is made from recycled PET bottles, effortlessly resting on the armrests for easy replacement and customization. Solid ash wood components bring durability, while the curved armrest widens at the center to provide comfortable back support. Every part is meticulously shaped to optimize mass production, proving that sustainability and manufacturing efficiency can go hand in hand.
