Founder of Romani Design granted European Citizen’s prize
The European Citizen’s prize is given to individuals and organisations that have contributed to better integration among EU member states, have improved their mutual understanding, or have developed programmes devoted to representing the values of the EU.
Erika Varga, founder of Romani Design, has created the first Roma fashion studio in Hungary, with the aim of helping the social integration of the Roma minority through fashion and applied arts. The designer applies the traditions and motifs of gypsy clothing in a modern European context.
