Full House for KATA SZEGEDI’s New Collection at MBBFW
The Hungarian fashion industry is celebrating a new international success: KATA SZEGEDI’s AW2526 collection debuted at the Mercedes-Benz Bucharest Fashion Week (MBBFW), attracting great interest. The brand is gaining increasing recognition in the global fashion industry, having showcased its innovative pieces at fashion weeks in Budapest, Milan, Paris, and beyond. The show, held as part of the collaboration between BCEFW and MBBFW, was met with a full house, and the professional audience praised the designer’s creations.
Although the Mercedes-Benz Bucharest Fashion Week (MBBFW) was only held for the second time, several international fashion and FMCG brands participated in it, elevating the event’s visibility and prestige. The event aims to connect fashion designers, buyers, magazines, the international media, manufacturers, universities, and all active players in the fashion and textile industries. Set at the iconic National Museum of Art of Romania, the venue added a special atmosphere to the showcase.
Kata Szegedi also presented her newest AW2526 collection at the event, which had already been unveiled to the audience of the 15th Budapest Central European Fashion Week (BCEFW). The BCEFW’s international collaborations, including with Mercedes-Benz Bucharest Fashion Week, created an opportunity for Hungarian and foreign designers to debut at each other’s events. Owing to this, not only was a Romanian brand (Ami Amalia) showcased at the Budapest Fashion Week, but a Hungarian designer also appeared at Bucharest Fashion Week. Thanks to the organisers’ decision, KATA SZEGEDI was able to present her collection. The show attracted a full house and received praise from industry professionals for its innovative, modern pieces.
The AW2526 collection blends wool and denim, experimenting with the fusion of different textures. The sculpture-like cuts and architectural silhouettes combined with the iconic elements of streetwear, such as hoodies and bomber jackets, gave the pieces a unique and exciting appearance. Additionally, sewn-together, collage-like elements made a return, reinforcing the brand's signature aesthetic and progressive approach. The collection also includes unique fabric choices, such as prints made from woven textiles, wool, fringed surfaces, impregnated fabrics, and soft, knitted materials.
In recent years, KATA SZEGEDI's collections have been displayed on renowned international platforms, including Milan, Helsinki, Berlin, and Paris Fashion Weeks, in addition to Budapest. Moreover, world-famous celebrities, including Róisín Murphy, Nicki Minaj, Kelly Rowland, Enikő Mihalik, and Vanessa Axente, have also worn the pieces.
Kata Szegedi's successful participation at Mercedes-Benz Bucharest Fashion Week further solidifies the growing international attention that Hungarian fashion deserves, with her name becoming increasingly recognised in the global fashion world.
