ABOUT THE EXHIBITED OBJECTS

GEMERSKE pour – over coffee set

The GEMERSKE pour-over set was created as part of a material research project aimed at exploring the contemporary relevance of pottery traditions from the former Gömör-Kishont County. The collection offers a modern interpretation of themes related to locality and tradition. Inspired by the defining characteristic of Gömör pottery — local clay — the set incorporates this material as its central visual and conceptual element. During the material research phase, the designer experimented with using local clay to develop high-temperature glazes, which were then applied to the refined forms of the set. By utilizing regional materials, the project not only pays homage to tradition but also addresses sustainability concerns in ceramic craftsmanship.

Designed to meet the functional needs of pour-over coffee brewing, the set features a distinctive contrast between materials. The local clay glaze appears on the surfaces of the server and tumblers, while the filter and server lid are crafted from white porcelain, creating a harmonious interplay of textures and tones.
