Position Collective started off as a design blog but has grown into a dynamic brand recognised for its success in the field of professional product and interior design. With nearly 15 years of experience, Position has established its defining, conceptual approach to design through initial experimental design projects, thematic events, exhibitions and fashion collaborations. Initially, the brand covered a wide spectrum of object collections, but since 2017, its focus has shifted to decorative lighting design. With a strong brand identity and coherent design vision running through each collection, Position has become internationally recognized. It draws inspiration from the aesthetics of the 1950s and 1960s, with a well-defined design language and a strong sales-oriented perspective. Symbolism, conceptualization, and storytelling are woven into its collections.

One of the missions of Position Collective is to create products using high-quality materials and involve local artisans, thus supporting Hungarian manufacturing traditions. Alongside their distinctive use of unique colors and materials, modularity and personalization are trademarks of the brand's products.

During the design process, Position Collective collaborates with the sales team to ensure that the resulting products harmonize with the established and internationally recognized brand profile while meeting future marketability criteria.

PRODUCT NAME: OTE collection

PRODUCT DESRIPTION: 

The OTE collection is a contemporary lamp family of 8 pendants, drawing attention to the heritage and legitimacy of Hungarian artistic traditions in the modern living environment. Concurrently, it actively addresses the manifestation of intelligence in artificial artistry. The OTE collection was developed with the help of the Midjourney algorithm. The designers sought to find out to what extent artificial intelligence takes over the designer's role and where it cannot replace it. In line with the innovative design concept, the lamps are manufactured using 3D printing technology, utilizing 100% biodegradable, biocomposite PLA. The design process draws inspiration from the simple spreading and row patterns characteristic of the Kalotaszeg region, and the distinctive textures, which Artificial Intelligence reinterpreted along contemporary concepts guided by the designers.

The design of the OTE collection reflects the Hungarian Museum of Applied Arts' foyer and interior architecture, particularly through its form elements and textured surfaces.

During the design process, this motif system containing symbolic elements was simplified into basic geometric shapes to fit the brand identity of Position, thereby giving the lamps a sleek and modern appearance. The unique appearance of the 3D printed products, the almost transparent, cotton canvas-like color effect of the material, and the structures allow for the display of the world of industrial art traditions that served as inspiration.

The manufacturing technology offers the possibility for future development and expansion of the collection with new variations or even new products. The goal was to create an innovative product family that, in addition to high environmental sustainability, could be mass-produced simply, quickly and cost-effectively, and possesses strong design value and sales potential.
