ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Anikó Szabó is a Hungarian textile designer who graduated from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in 2016. She has been working with textiles, mainly weaving, since high school, making it her primary focus. She explores the full potential of technology, believing that quality design requires both technical knowledge and hands-on experience. Her work includes both serially produced items and unique handmade pieces.
She strives to create textiles with rich structures and captivating surfaces, always starting each piece manually through experimentation. When possible, such as with carpets, she collaborates with manufacturers. Her inspiration comes from nature — its structures, impressions, and surfaces. She often reinterprets traditional patterns, bridging past and present.
Her work is characterized by clarity, aiming to express the most with minimal means. She creates home textiles for series production, textile artworks, and large-scale unique pieces. Her goal is to bring elements of nature into everyday life through rugs, pillows, or kitchen accessories, appealing to those who appreciate natural materials and harmonious design.
ABOUT THE EXHIBITED OBJECT
Fields - Wheat
The Wheat carpet is one of the pieces in the Fields carpet collection. For the designer, nature offers endless possibilities and adventures. While observing the landscape, she was inspired by the alternation of different plant covers, as their variations create many different surfaces in nature. In this series, she displayed a top view of the fields in woven form. For the Wheat carpet, she used a loop technique scattered throughout, intended to represent the wheat bales.
