The Budapest Design Material Library organises a roundtable discussion again

The Budapest Design Material Library awaits those interested again on the 20th of October at 18:00 with a roundtable discussion. It will include topics such as the future of interior design trends and how intelligent homes render the everyday life more environmentally friendly and easier in the future as the most dynamically developing sector.

The Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) and the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency (HFDA) opened the Budapest Design Material Library (BDML) on the 18th of October 2021 as their joint project. The HFDA set it as a goal to create a material library that collects samples of the newest and most innovative materials from all around the world and makes it widely available in a form of a database, using international examples. Thus, Hungarian creative industry players and SMEs can get to know the latest, most innovative materials without frequent visits abroad. Under the programme series BDML Insider, professional programmes, workshops, roundtable discussions and other material-specific events connected to the material library are realised that can further increase the library’s visibility and recognition.

In the last few years, significant developments and changes have occurred in interior design, both in planning and manufacturing processes. During the roundtable discussion, we will talk about the future of interior design trends and how smart homes will make  the everyday life more environmentally friendly. The participants of the conversation (Gábor Bakos, Concrazy Kft.’s CEO; Barnabás Tóth, business development leader of Chameleon smart home; Tamás Fülöp, project architect of HelloWood; and Léna Lehoczky, interior designer, CEO of Lehoczky Léna Design) will seek answers to the following questions: Can we mitigate the effect of global warming through adopting sustainable and smart homes? How can interior design products’ life spans be extended in the future? To what extent is it a priority in the sector to develop a circular business model? To what innovations and social phenomena might the transformation and “smarting” of our apartments and house lead later on? How much can an intelligent system or an “intelligently” designed house change the time spent at home, the human-home relationship?
