The Entire Sneaker World’s Eye Was On Budapest

Sneakerness Budapest, a celebration of sneaker and streetwear culture organised by Tamás Trunk, broke attendance records at Millenáris. Alongside the exhibitors from 17 countries, more than 20 Hungarian brands debuted at the event. Presenting itself to the event’s international audience, the Hungarian streetwear scene has proven to rival the world’s best in creativity, quality, and innovation.

Following Paris, Amsterdam, Milan, London and Zürich, in November, Budapest housed Sneakerness, Europe’s leading sneaker event and streetwear fair. The event, organised by Tamás Trunk in the capital, welcomed exhibitors and speakers from 17 countries to present the finest selection of sneakers and streetwear. More than 8100 visitors gathered at the venue while the streamers of Culture Kicks, an American sneaker reseller, reached more than 2.1 million viewers with their live broadcasts.

Sneakerness was an outstanding opportunity for the Hungarian streetwear scene. More than 20 Hungarian brands participated in the event, proving that Hungary is playing an increasingly important role in the world of streetwear. Among them were two Hungarian brands whose designers have been collaborating with the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency for a long time and have demonstrated their talent in several Budapest Central European Fashion Weeks and Milan Fashion Weeks.

Unisus Club debuted at the event, with pieces designed by Dóra Abodi. The brand’s main goal is to introduce a new perspective into sneaker culture with the GEO1 collection, emphasising the importance of a sustainable lifestyle. In addition, they presented the Naturalist Community initiative, helping community members understand and apply sustainability through educational and practical steps.

Unreal Industries brought the fashion of the future to Sneakerness. The brand amazed visitors with a harmonious combination of sports and streetwear elements and its minimalist design with a deep meaning. Unreal does not only design clothes but creates a whole world filled with hidden messages, creative content, and thought-provoking details.

Besides, Sordeo, Tamás Trunk’s own streetwear brand, had a highlighted role at the event, presenting exclusive collaborations and innovative products, further enhancing the presence of domestic brands. Moreover, the investment competition launched by Tamás Trunk, SIZE UP, which targets the support and development of emerging Hungarian streetwear brands, was concluded with great success.

Sneakerness Budapest was a milestone for Hungarian designers, brands, and sneaker fans. The event’s success clearly shows that there is a growing community around streetwear in Hungary, and more and more opportunities open up for Hungarian brands on the international scene.
