Watoji - Japanese binding - Notebook making workshop
Date: 13 October, 2024. (10:00-12:30)
Location: Valami Produktív Studio, 1083 Budapest, Práter street 9.
At the workshop, participants can learn about Watoji, the traditional Japanese bookbinding technique. The session will cover the history of the technique, its tools, materials, the components of the notebook, and the process of creating it. After learning the four traditional stitching patterns—yotsume toji ('4-hole binding'), kouki toji ('noble binding'), kikko toji ('turtle shell binding'), and asa-no-ha toji ('hemp leaf binding')— they will create a classic Japanese style notebook in the hanshi size and format, with a choice of cover color and thread.
Workshop is lead by Lilla Szántói, the founder of Lapozó.
The discounted fee of the workshop is 12.000 HUF / person.
